Soldiers' Cemetery

This cemetery, which is also known as Lincoln Cemetery, is located on Rutherford Road in Greenville, SC. Many veterans are buried in this cemetery. It had been abandoned for over 60 years before members of the James F. Daniel, Jr. Post #3 of the American Legion began to organize the restoration of the grounds.

Many parts of the cemetery are overgrown and impossible to walk through. At least 130 World War I veterans are buried there. They died of Influenza at Camp Sevier in Greenville (1917-1918). Many of the graves are unmarked. Volunteers, including Boy Scouts and high school students, have worked to clean up the cemetery during the past three years.
